Junior Full Stack Developer - Award-Winning Learning Tech Platform | Oxford | £24,000 - £30,0000 + Benefits
We are an award-winning and rapidly growing educational technology business providing online teaching and learning resources to hundreds of thousands of teachers and students around the world.
We are looking for a Junior Developer to join our experienced team as we add new features and upgrade our legacy system to a more modern stack. Our objective is to take the platform to the next level, paving the way for future plans to further improve teaching and learning.
You’re a great match if you are a smart all-rounder willing to apply your skills to understand, refactor, simplify and streamline our (sometimes less than perfect) legacy code into something even better. Along the way you will have the opportunity to use some of the latest and best tech available to companies like ours.
In this role you will:
+ Work alongside experienced developers to implement new features and migrate existing functionality in a fresh tech stack
+ Identify and fix mission critical bugs in the working system
+ Understand the security and data protection implications of the work you are involved with and take this very seriously
+ Ensure your code is thoroughly tested
+ Stay up to date on relevant technologies, understand trends and opportunities that ensure we are using the best techniques and tools
+ A willingness to learn from others on the team and to explore on your own
+ Some experience of version control with Git
+ An awareness of software design principles and long-term maintenance
+ Excellent communication and social skills
+ Excellent written and spoken English
Bonus points if you have:
+ Some experience of back-end technologies such as OO PHP, Symfony and MySQL
+ Some experience of Cloud technologies such as AWS and Terraform
+ Knowledge of how HTTP (and specifically REST) APIs work

+ Salary: £ 24-30k
+ Full-time, permanent
+ Hours: 9-5 weekdays
+ Holiday: 22 days plus bank holidays
